We want to wish a Happy New Year to our close group of friends and Flora’s extended family. I say family as many of you have known us for many years; from before we had children, before the beginning of Flora’s and you really do feel like family to us. Through highs and lows, happiness and sadness you have supported us, especially through this difficult year. To our newer friends we welcome you and we truly appreciate your trust in us. And if we have not seen some of you for a short time, that’s ok we understand, take time to heal. We will all come together soon. Stronger, wiser and more grateful of the lives we have.

So this spring we discovered that we’d been shortlisted in Vancouver Magazine’s “Best of Vancouver” awards! We were thrilled and when we made it into the finals with an ‘honourable mention’ we were truly honoured! We may have only been formulating our skincare products for 3 years but we have a plethora of experience, with over 35 years in the spa and skincare industry. In these years we have treated EVERY type of skin and worked with hundreds of different skin care lines. Which is how we knew exactly what we wanted to create when it came to Flora’s. Simple, effective natural skincare. Remember every ingredient is hand-picked to give you the best possible results and those of you that have known us for a long time know that we only give 100%!
Bare Peppermint Hand Sanitizer.
As natural skincare formulators, hand sanitizer was never really on out list of products that we wanted to make. But when the pandemic hit in March of last year and our business was shut down for 2 months we decided we couldn’t just sit around and watch. It seemed that many businesses were jumping on the band wagon and throwing out all sorts of questionable hand sanitizers! First we did our research and discovered that we needed to obtain a NPN (natural product number) from Health Canada to be able to produce and sell this item. Unfortunately this took weeks of red tape but we wanted to do it properly. Then we decided, as it looked as though we would be using this item for many months to come, we had to formulate a higher quality product. One that wouldn’t dry out your skin and lead to complications down the road. Bare Peppermint Hand Sanitizer was born, a combination of peppermint, tea tree oil and sweet orange essential oils with enough glycerin and panthenol to prevent chapped, dry hands.

Our Perfect Planet.
This year proved difficult to get certain supplies, one of them was our containers. For many months our regular suppliers were out of stock of many of our glass jars and for a time it seemed that we may have to look elsewhere. One of the alternatives, plastic! AAAAAH NEVER!!! But we put in an extreme effort and sourced from several new suppliers in order to keep our beautiful skincare in recyclable containers. Why? A reminder, not only is there a HUGE problem with plastic on our earth, as we are all aware, but the only materials that are endlessly recyclable are glass and aluminum. We chose them for their sustainability but also because there is no danger of leaching toxins into the product contained within. We strive to use as little plastic as hygienically possible. You won’t find any wasteful boxes, leaflets or cellophane either. With all the problems in our world let us not forget how lucky we are and keep our perfect planet and ourselves safe.
